The Endcliffe Park Consultation Event began on Saturday morning at 9am.
We spent the day using a number of methods to engage with Endcliffe Park users.
Firstly we set up a “Pit Stop” by the entrance at Hunters Bar Roundabout. The “Pit-Stop” comprised of an informal re-freshments stall (using a combination of cups of mineral water and orange segments and covered in the brightest yellow fabric ever seen in Endcliffe)
To evoke thoughts on the state of the park “Statement/Question” Posters were placed up in eye catching locations around the Hunters Bar entrance. The posters give park users a chance to reflect on the statements made, before hopefully, they came and chatted with us at the “Pit Stop”.
Wrapping the pergola at the Hunters Bar entrance.
After alot of planning the decision was made late on Friday to acquire enough “incandecent” yellow material for one of our “Intervention/Feature” of the consultation day. The aim of wrapping the existing pergola structure was to spark debate and demonstrate that an object that until now has been overlooked by all but the local ’wineos’ could be seen in a new way and perhaps even question its existence and the existence of other overlooked objects.
Once on site we became entangled in the process of finding the best way to “wrap” the pergola. after much deliberation we agreed to drap the material over the top and down the front tyo create an enclosed ‘room’ which would have a significantly different atmosphere than the structure presently conveys one of openess lacking meaning and enclosure.
another intervention to gauge peoples thoughts on the park was to hand out a double postcard. Called a Double Postcsrd as it came in two parts. One with a past image of endcliffe park as a gift to take home and keep after having completed the second part to by filling with their thoughts on the current park along with suggestions and general observations.
